We may store information about you using cookies (files which are sent by us to your computer or other access device) which we can access when you visit our site in future. We do this to enable functions like the text resize in the right hand column. If you want to delete any cookies that are already on your computer, please refer to the instructions for your file management software to locate the file or directory that stores cookies. Our cookies will have file names starting yaffs.net. These may be found among the Privacy settings for your web browser. Information on deleting or controlling cookies is available at the excellent and informative site:www.AboutCookies.org. Privacy

We, like all British companies handling data on computers, are registered under the Data Protection Act, which requires us (amongst many other things) to describe what use we shall make of the data we keep, and have the authorities record and accept that use, and permits you access to the data about you.

In practice when we write an Invoice we do it on a computer and we keep the invoice details for a few months (and a paper copy much longer).

We DO NOT EVER pass this information on, or sell it, to any other company. We never have done so and we expect never to do so in the future. Details of your transaction with us remain private to us and you can expect them to be seen only by our staff and possibly by our professional Auditors.

We suffer enough from junk mail and junk email to wish not to inflict any of it on anyone else!

We do not promise not to tell you if we have a new product we think you might be interested in. We very rarely do this but we might at some future time want to tell you about what is both new and likely to be relevant to you.

We do also run an Email list for Yaffs, but you only receive emails if you ask to do so by going to:-  http://stoneboat.aleph1.co.uk/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/yaffs  to join in.

Guarantee

Our policy has always been to provide all the information a buyer needs to make an informed choice of our products. If you have questions to which you do not see answers we are happy to try to answer those specific questions; they are much more likely to be answered if you provide information about the software context in which you are using Yaffs and details of the kind of difficulty you have

Yaffs is provided on an "as is" basis without any warranty as to its suitability for any particular purpose. This may seem unfair, but it follows from the terms of the GNU Public Licence and the Licence for the hardware designs.  Yaffs is unique in our experience in that you can try it without charge, and satisfy yourself that it works for your product before you buy a Licence to use it.

In any case the company shall not be liable for any losses, damage, costs, expenses including (without limitation) any loss of profits, any loss or damage to property and any indirect or consequential loss howsoever caused including any liability to third parties.

Legal

We provide the Source Code to Yaffs and any derived file systems without any warranty but AS IS save that (to the best of Aleph One's knowledge) the use of the Source Code does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.

We provide certain pieces of software, with different licences associated with them:

  • Source Code for Yaffs1, Yaffs2 and Yaffs/direct and Bootloader, being the subject of this Licence Agreement, for incorporation in a Product.
  • Yaffs Development Tools

Images created with the tools may be incorporated into a Product. The images are not affected by the licence status of the Tools. When these Tool files are supplied in the tarball we send they appear with a header saying they are used under the GNU Public Licence, GPL. That term applies only to the Tools.

The other files in the tarball have headers making clear they are used under a paid licence from Aleph One Ltd.

The Licence also permits access to all information on Yaffs published by Aleph One Ltd at http://www.yaffs.net - now and at any time in the future.
